Born in Miami, Florida, STEVEN DIXEY moved to Sarasota where he attended The Ringling College of Art and Design. While lately he’s been developing primarily as a painter, Steven majored in sculpture, a skill which he now uses to create intricate frames for his work. His paintings reinterpret the imagery of Rococo and Baroque era painting by juxtaposing them with modern elements of war and mass media. His love of secret societies especially the Masons is also prevalent in his work both in iconography and a general adherence to symmetry. Steven Dixey has exhibited his work at the Red Dot Art Fair in New York, Eyedrum in Atlanta, Nog Gallery in London, Art in Tampa, and Definition Gallery in Baltimore.
